YLG is a not-for-profit guarantee provider established by the Social Fund for Development in 2017 to increase the facilitation of credit to enterprise owners for growth and expansion.
 

YLG provides partial guarantees on loans made by PFIs (banks and microfinance institutions MFIs) to micro and small enterprise borrowers located in the region. YLG aims to contribute to the creation of new jobs and the development of existing and start-up projects.

 

Portfolio Guarantee Model:

Funded by the WB, YLG will establish the Portfolio Guarantee Model (PGM), and through extending the Portfolio Guarantee to PFIs, YLG intends to strengthen the ability to provide loans to Qualifying Borrowers in Yemen, thereby aiming to create positive externalities through improved job retention, job creation and economic development.

Towards this end, YLG is currently looking to hire Guarantee Assistants to work in the guarantee department. They will work under the management of YLG Guarantee Department Supervisor, to undertake the following:

Key responsibilities and tasks include:

  • Receive guarantee applications and review clients for eligibility while making sure all requirements met by PFIs.

  • Review all guarantee applications on a daily basis and provide feedback to the Guarantee Officers.

  • Evaluate guarantee applicants and identify their compatibility with the YLG criteria of client's selection

  • Work closely with Guarantee Officers to conduct feasibility studies for potential clients as per the programs criteria and internal policies and procedures.

  • Conduct regular field visits to MFIs and clients to evaluate their status in response to their agreement with the YLG.

  • Conduct field visits to guarantee applicants during the process of issuing guarantee certificates to conduct feasibility studies of their business/project.

  • Conduct marketing activities for potential clients.

  • Provide the Guarantee Approval Committee with information needed when applicable.

  • Input clients’ applications in the MIS system.

  • Ensure that all clients’ files are complete and archived.

  • Ensure that all clients’ documents are scanned and backed up in MIS system

  • Assist with setting guarantee department targets and tracking reports.

  • Follow up on clients' reports identifying the status of loans pay-offs with MFIs.

  • Follow the program's policies and procedures for issuing guarantee certificates.

  • Perform other duties assigned by the YLG Managing Director and guarantee officers.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor Degree from a reputable university in accounting, finance, business, or any other related field.

  • One year of experience or training consists of a financial institution operations, sales or customer services background.

  • Competent with the use of computers.

  • Excellent command of both Arabic and English (writing and speaking).

  • Ability to work overtime and for long hours.

  • Traveling across the country and abroad will be required.

  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
